What It Shows

This layer provides current fire-perimeter context so users can read local ecological conditions against regional disturbance, smoke, and habitat-loss risk.

Method

  1. 1.Request active fire perimeter tiles directly from the public WMS.
  2. 2.Render the returned raster overlay with a higher opacity than broad-context layers.

Refresh Cadence

Live service. The layer updates with the public CWFIS feed.

Coverage

National coverage where the upstream service publishes active fire perimeters.

Caveats

  • This layer is operational context, not a historical fire atlas.
  • Visibility depends on the current public wildfire service.
